In housing, we presently manage 15 single-room occupancy transitional housing units in two locations - Hyannis and Dennis - and we provide a robust case management program for each resident we serve. Our goal is to ensure that all veterans living in the more remote areas of our service region receive the food they need to survive. To that end, in the past year we have delivered food to 1,717 veterans and their families, while also expanding our food pantry operations beyond our service center here in Hyannis, to the Outer Cape in Orleans, and on Martha's Vineyard Island. He is happily married and a proud father.Our specific focus is on food insecurity among veterans and their families, homelessness, and comprehensive counseling services. He was also Chair of an advisory committee comprised of faculty and staff from across campus for strategic planning and program assessment, policy development and interpretation, faculty/staff trainings, budget management, and compliance monitoring.īrad received an MBA from Liberty University in 2017 and a BA in Human Resources Management and Services from Ashford University, where he graduated Cum Laude. In this role, he served as the primary point of contact, advocate, and resource for prospective and current veterans, active-duty military personnel, and military dependents seeking educational attainment at UW-Parkside and acting as the Veterans Benefits Certifying Officer for the University. In 2019 Brad was asked to join the University of Wisconsin Parkside as a Veterans Service Support Manager. In that time, led the day-to-day operations of the Veterans Services functional team and served as the Veterans Benefits Certifying Officer for the County of Racine, overseeing a team of five claims and benefits specialists to meet or exceed services for the 13,000 Veterans in Racine County During his service, Brad was on multiple deployments and received the Bronze Star.įollowing retirement from the Air Force in 2015, he worked for four years as a County Veterans Service Office for Racine County. Finally, program participants will have the stability to know their foundation is more than just one paycheck away from a return to homelessness. In addition, our program services such as financial literacy, Veteran peer support groups, weekly wellness activities (meditation, yoga, field trips), job facilitation, and service hours help our residents engage them with the broader community. Veteran residents will have the support to hope, plan, and dream for the next chapter of their lives. Once a resident no longer has to worry about their immediate needs, they can start building for the future. Our holistic approach to recovery is a blueprint for how communities can come together and support our heroes in need.īuilding tiny homes is simply the foundation of the program.

Working with collaborative partners will increase capacity across our service network to care for our local heroes and their families. 60th Street the Milwaukee development will emulate the programming services offered in Racine. Our Milwaukee expansion will be a village of 42 tiny homes, a 10,000 sq ft community center, and a complimentary Veterans Food Market. We are looking to expand our services in Racine and serve Veteran households in Milwaukee.Īs the first and most successful project of its kind in Wisconsin, VOW has been recognized nationally as a model for other communities. What began as a group of volunteers in 2013 has blossomed rapidly into a growing organization. We were founded by community members who recognized a need and took action.
